A truly lovely couple recently purchased a ground level rancher and sought our help to transform it from antiquated to updated - ultimately a space that would better reflected their fun and energetic personalities.
In the midst of downsizing for retirement - there was a fundamental need to maximize every possibility of optimizing storage space. In looking for every opportunity- the Spare Bedroom would flex as Grandkids Play Room with a built in Murphy Bed for Sleep-Over parties, Master Bedroom Built-In TV Wall with tons of hidden shelving, and Kitchen Millwork would include an Appliance Garage to help hide all the daily use small Appliances. A client favourite? The Built-In KitchenAid Mixer built in lift.
At our first meeting, I noticed a beautiful ornamental tree with striking pink foliage right outside the Living Room window - the client loved this tree and ultimately it would provide inspiration to use key pops of colour and feature those layers throughout the house.
When it came to choosing the main Interior Colour Palette, we used tone on tone soft whites and warm silvers to provide the backdrop for the cheerful pops of colour to really come alive against. Contrasting with sleek Metallic elements featuring deep tones of Black Stainless, polished Chrome, Brushed Nickel, Pearlescent Charcoal, and Smoked Glass - these created an incredibly grounded feeling and provided a seamless contrast with the light and timeless surroundings.
The Kitchen Ceiling provided a beautiful opportunity to add a special detail with back lit lighting that shines through a high gloss stretched ceiling panel anchored by the blown glass pendants over the Island and Sink area.
From dark and dated - to airy and updated; this home has become the perfect place for these retirees to call home for many years to come.
